It happened so suddenly.
I wasn’t searching for anything special.
I was just scrolling through YouTube, half awake, brushing through videos about gardening — flowers, pots, soil mixes, random plant hacks.

And then one video appeared.
A thumbnail of a calm man standing among ancient trees.
The title mentioned Kunio Kobayashi, the legendary bonsai master of Japan.

I clicked it without thinking.

Within minutes, I was completely still…
watching the way he touched each branch as if the tree could feel him.
The gentle patience in his hands.
The quiet respect in his eyes.
The way he shaped trees not with haste, but with harmony.

He wasn’t just trimming leaves.
He was creating stories — slow, living stories that take years to unfold.

Something inside me shifted.

A tiny spark.
A soft whisper.
A calling I didn’t know I had:

“I want to grow a bonsai.”

The urge felt sudden, yet deeply natural —
like discovering a part of myself that had always been waiting.

From that moment, the idea wouldn’t leave me.
I kept thinking about the miniature landscapes,
the bend of a branch,
the patience of time itself captured in a small pot.

That one unexpected video
became the door to a new world…

A world I wanted to enter.
A world I wanted to grow with.

And that is how my bonsai adventure began —
with a simple YouTube scroll,
a quiet inspiration,
and the gentle wisdom of Kunio Kobayashi
reaching across the screen
straight into my heart.
